If somebody uses a "cookie cutter" build they get flamed and called a noob...
If somebody uses a totaly unique, but less effective build, then they get called a noob and flamed...
If somebody creates a cool new build that really works, it gets posted on Wiki or Guru and becomes a "cookie cutter" build...
I think people need to stop asking others to ping thier build when they join a random pug. If you are putting together a party for a mission, and you want specific builds, then ask for them and make certian the entire party is on the same game plan. But if you just join a random party to get the mission done faster then you really have to accept whatever build they choose to run.

There are no noob builds there are only idiotic arrogant cookie cutter building noobs who think they are elite cause they "copied" a build from Wiki that worked "somewhere" but, not everywhere. <grin>

I blame lack of knowledge for noob builds.
We all gotta learn.
But I blame everyone else for the state of the game cause you guys have horrible attitudes.
A positive statement on how those of you with horrible attitudes reflect badly on the game, Master Knightfall. So it's a positive attitude.

Prophecies does a terrible job of setting you on course in presearing, that I will agree with.
LOL... Frenzy healsig GO GO GO!!!!
Oh wait! Better yet.
I love how elementalists don't get ANY viable skills other then fire skills until the desert (2/3 through the game....) GG.

So that is 2/3 of the game you have almost not "super-duper" build.
|
Not to mention that the skills you get are... random, to say the least (Some basic skills, ones you get on Shing Jea or Istan, take a confusingly long time to get from Prophecies).

|
Actually, healing hands was one of the first elites you could cap in the first few months of the game. The Mergoyle boss in D'Alessio Seaboard had it.
Also, remember the premade builds they had for pvp? Nearly every W/Mo was the paladin template, which had both healing hands and mending. If I recall, the template advised you to cast mending on yourself before the battle started. With no balthazar faction, most people never bothered to even tweak the builds

Yep the other day I was vanquishing Prophs on my warrior and I was shocked to see the same crowds of people with the same builds from 2 years ago, its like people are living retro in the past or only have prophs.

Some people *do* still have only Prophecies. And if the builds still work for them, that's great no matter how much the people here might disapprove.

I actually enjoyed walking around with my own builds more then with the cookie cutter builds, even though my own builds sucked a lot. (power shot + ignite arrows + conjure flame). The game was a lot more challenging and epic (especially because I didnt knew I was making it a lot harder for myself ).

There is one I detest more than any and that is Stefan.

I try to compare the hench in all the campaigns (and even EotN). I really think they did a great job on the EotN hench. The eles are adequate and the monk do a good job. Prophecies hench are atrocious. I am sorry. I get so frustrated when I am doing a vanquishing and have to bring some of them along. It drive me bonkers.

I think the problem is they don't give you enough skills in Pre. They give you some for each possible attribute, but not enough to decide for yourself which attributes you plan on using through the game. Having skills split among the attributes also means spliting your points thin.

I blame the original box for Guild Wars (Prophecies).
"Strike with a Hamstring attack to cripple your fleeing opponent, then rain fire down upon him as he slowly limps away."
People who actually looked at the whole skill bar they showed also saw Chain Lightning, Phoenix, and Ice Spikes being used. The other 3 skills were IWAY, Galrath Slash, and Defensive Stance.
1) Swordsmanship
2) Fire Magic
3) Air Magic
4) Water Magic
5) Strength
6) Tactics
Good builds started with the box art!
